Dashboard embeds

Share your main dashboard through a private read-only link, or embed it on another site with an iframe.

What a shared dashboard shows

A private link opens the site's main dashboard for anyone who has it — no account, no login — with the same KPI row, chart and reports you see, always live. People with the link can change the date range, compare periods and add filters, but they can't change anything about the site.

Only the main dashboard is shared. The other pages (Pages, Globe, Bots, Sessions, Users, Events), your settings and everything else in Trace stay private.

  1. Open Settings → Dashboard embeds. Managing the link needs the Editor role or above.
  2. Create link. Trace generates a long random key and builds the link from it: https://data.whos1.bid/share/YOUR_WEBSITE_ID/YOUR_SHARE_KEY. The link stays the same until you replace it.
  3. Replace or turn it off whenever you need to. New link swaps in a fresh key; Turn off removes it. Either way the old link and every embed using it stop working on their next request — there is no grace period.

Treat the link like a password

Anyone who has the link can see your traffic numbers. Share it only with people you'd show the dashboard to, and replace it if it ends up somewhere it shouldn't (a public repo, a forwarded email). Embedding it on a public page makes your stats public.

Options

Options live in the URL, so each copy of the link can look different. Settings builds the URL for you.

ParameterValuesEffect
themelight, dark, system (default)The dashboard's colour theme. system follows the viewer's OS setting.
hideSidebartrueDrops the sidebar and shows only the dashboard — the usual choice inside an iframe.

Embed it on a site

Paste this where the dashboard should appear, with your real link (copy it from Settings) as the src:

<iframe
  src="https://data.whos1.bid/share/YOUR_WEBSITE_ID/YOUR_SHARE_KEY?hideSidebar=true"
  title="Analytics dashboard"
  loading="lazy"
  style="width: 100%; height: 1600px; border: 0;"
></iframe>
  • The dashboard is responsive; give the iframe the width you like and enough height for the reports you want visible without scrolling.
  • Any site may frame a shared dashboard. The rest of Trace refuses to load inside another site's frame.
  • Settings shows a live preview with your chosen options.

What viewers can and can't do

Can

  • Change the date range, granularity and comparison period.
  • Filter by any dimension, open details lists, and explore funnels, journeys and individual visitor timelines — exactly as on your dashboard.
  • See the live visitor count.

Can't

  • Open settings, manage goals, funnels or properties, or change anything else.
  • Export raw data (the export button is hidden and the export endpoint never accepts a share key).
  • Use the link as an API key or reach any other page of Trace with it.
  • See data from your connected accounts: Search Console queries, Meta Ads spend, GitHub deploy markers and revenue stay private.

FAQ

Press New link (or Turn off). The old link stops working immediately; send the new one to the people who should still have it and update any embeds.

A plain "This dashboard isn't available" page — it doesn't reveal whether the site exists.

Do views of the shared dashboard count as traffic?

No. Trace only counts visits to the site the tracking script is installed on.

Will search engines index it?

No. Shared dashboards are marked noindex and never send the link on in the Referer header.
