Integrations
Connect Google Search Console, GitHub and Meta Ads to see search queries, deploys and ad spend next to your traffic.
Settings → Integrations has three connections, each adding its own kind of data to your dashboard. Connecting them needs the Editor role or above.
| Integration | What it adds |
|---|---|
| Google Search Console | Search queries and impressions alongside your traffic. |
| GitHub | Deploy markers on your traffic chart. |
| Meta Ads | Facebook and Instagram campaign spend next to the visitors each campaign brought. |
Data from integrations is never shown on shared dashboards.
Google Search Console
Shows your top search queries — clicks, impressions, click-through rate and average position — on your dashboard.
- Click Connect and sign in with the Google account that has your site verified in Search Console.
- Trace looks through your verified properties and picks the one matching the site's domain (a domain property such as
sc-domain:example.com, or a URL-prefix property with the same hostname). - If none matched automatically, pick yours from the list and click Use this property.
A Search queries card then appears on the dashboard for whatever date range you're viewing, with Query, Clicks, Impressions, CTR and Position. Google's search data typically lags 2–3 days behind, so the most recent days may look sparse.
GitHub
Records every push to your repository's default branch as a deploy marker on the traffic chart. Hover a marker to see the commit message — line up a traffic dip or spike with a deploy and you have your answer.
Click Connect and install the GitHub App on the repository you want tracked. New pushes to the default branch appear on the chart from then on; pushes from before you connected aren't backfilled.
Pushes, not deployments
Markers follow pushes to your default branch, not deployment results from your hosting provider. For most setups (a deploy runs on each push to main) that's the same thing; if your releases are decoupled from pushes, the markers won't line up with real release times.
Meta Ads
Shows Facebook and Instagram ad spend by campaign next to how many visitors Trace actually recorded for that campaign, so you get a real cost per visitor.
- Click Connect and authorise with your Meta account.
- If the account manages more than one ad account, pick one and click Use this account.
A Meta Ads campaigns card then appears on the dashboard with Campaign, Spend, Visitors and Cost/visitor.
Tag your ad links
Visitors are matched to a campaign by name: the campaign's name in Meta must exactly match the utm_campaign value on your ad links (case doesn't matter, everything else does). Without utm_campaign=<campaign name> on your links, the card shows spend with zero matched visitors.
Reconnecting and disconnecting
An integration that needs re-authorising — an expired or revoked token, or the GitHub App uninstalled — shows Needs reconnecting instead of Connected. Click Reconnect to run the connect flow again. Disconnect removes the connection entirely; you can connect again any time.
FAQ
I connected but don't see a card on my dashboard
Check the Integrations tab first. If it asks you to pick a property or ad account, no data shows until you do.
